Argyle seeks an Associate Consultant to join our Corporate and Public Affairs team. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a communicator in politics, government or industry, with strong analytical and writing skills to support communications strategies and programs for corporate clients.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative strategy research including media landscape and narrative analysis, policy and political landscape reviews, audience profiling and stakeholder and influencer mapping, and competitive business analysis;
  • Support writing for internal, client, and media audiences, including research and creative briefs, reports, proposals, white papers, presentations, blogs and opinion pieces;
  • Support integrated communications programs including providing overall project coordination, contributing to strategy, writing for earned and owned media (news releases, op-eds, fact sheets, backgrounders, web copy, emails and more).
  • Contribute to media strategy, building relationships with key journalists covering Canada’s tech and financial sectors and participating in media outreach efforts;
  • Support client teams by developing and managing critical paths, coordinating activities with digital and creative team members, documenting client meetings and next steps, maintaining client files, and managing vendor relationships.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Educational background in communications, journalism, political science, public policy administration, or related field. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning through advanced degree or training;
  • Solid understanding of, and ideally experience with, key issues related to Canada’s technology and financial sectors;
  • 1-3 years of agency, private or public sector communications experience;
  • Excellent critical thinking, research, analysis, and writing skills;
  • Interest in media relations and a demonstrated understanding of the media landscape and role of media in achieving business, policy, and advocacy, outcomes;
  • A passion for going the extra mile to get great results for every client;
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, flexible, organized, skilled at client service, and attention to detail;
  • Project management experience;
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities;
  • Team spirit and a great attitude.
  • Bilingualism considered an asset.
